Island Dream

Your feet are happy in this place; all they walk on is smooth, soft, creamy-white sand that leaves them coated with a fairy-dust residue. The breeze here is beautiful and fresh, never ceasing to cool you down or calm your mood. And then there’s the ocean, oh the ocean, which appeals to every single one of your five senses. The sight of it captivates you, its sound is mesmerizing, its smell is delightfully distracting, you can taste it in the air, and then you feel it – cool but not freezing, warm but not boiling, comfortable yet rejuvenating. Palm trees provide the perfect shade, the kind where the temperature is just right, where you’re not in the dark, nor is the shade too scattered, the kind that is exactly what you hoped you’d find here. Your hammock lies waiting, swaying in the wind, waving at you, inviting you to sit, relax, dream. Finally, you realize resistance is futile and with a sigh of peaceful, content surrender, you give in to its beckoning. You slide onto the swinging cotton cradle, and lay back, totally and completely in appreciation of your surroundings. Sunlight dabbles gently through the leaves above you, and as you doze into sweet slumber, you smile.

What beauty! This is better than listening to relaxful music. Plus it helps me not to think about the snow outside. 😛

Glad you liked it. That’s the mood I was trying to convey. This was an exercise for my Grade 11 writing class, where we had to write a paragraph with a dominant feeling throughout it.
      Thank you! =)
